Nelson Mandela 


 President Nelson Mandela the first person who served as the first black President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He is widely regarded as a global icon for his struggle against racism, apartheid, and social injustice.


Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, in Mvezo, a small village in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. He attended university and studied law, becoming involved in the African National Congress (ANC), an organization that opposed the apartheid system of ethnical segregation and prejudice.


In 1962, Nelson Mandela was arrested and censured of sabotage and conspiracy to overthrow the government. He was sentenced to life in prison and spent 27 years jailed, much of it on Robben Island. During his imprisonment, Nelson Mandela became a symbol of the struggle against apartheid, and his release in 1990 was celebrated around the world.

After his discharge, Nelson Mandela continued to work towards the nullification of apartheid and the establishment of a democratic government in South Africa. He played a key role in negotiations with the apartheid government and was instrumental in the drafting of a new constitution that guaranteed equal rights for all South Africans.


In 1994, Mandela was voted as the first black President of South Africa in the country's first democratic elections. He worked to promote reconciliation and healing between black and white South Africans, and his leadership helped to prevent a potentially violent transition to democracy.


Mandela's contributions to the struggle against apartheid and his leadership in the post-apartheid era earned him numerous awards and honors, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. He remained an influential figure in South African and global politics until his death on December 5, 2013, at the age of 95 after a well life spent
